resources
In my experience as a counselor in St. Louis, I’m frequently asked for additional mental health resources that individuals can access outside of our sessions. Often this may be for family members or friends to educate themselves and learn how to best support their loved ones. Many times, these resources may also help clients themselves. I’ve suggested various books and therapy resources below.
In addition, I have provided a list of websites that allow users to search for St. Louis counseling options based upon specialty (i.e. therapy for eating disorders, anxiety, PTSD) or specific location. Hopefully these sites will make the therapy search process a little less burdensome or overwhelming.
The last section lists telephone resources for individuals who may be in crisis. Oftentimes, it is difficult to coordinate therapy treatment or make that initial counseling appointment, and yet critically important to reach out and get needed support that may even save a life.
